The farm of Riaumont gathers an indetermined number of animals. In addition to hens, the geese and the ducks, we also have two horses called Cadoudal and Fabiola, some goats but also a peacock, whose wheel, even though splendid, does not completely compensate for the dissonant noises it makes at eleven o’clock in the evening.
Placed under the responsibility of a monk, the farm allows the boys to be entrusted with work to the height of their competences as well as responsibilities. it is not unusual, when a animal is sick or that one brood reaches the point to hatch out, to find the boy in charge as “nurse” near the concerned animal even when it means he must be staying there for a long while…
