The chapel

Built by the boys of Riaumont, with their heart as much as with their hands, the Chapel immediatly encourages prayer as well as contemplation. At first sight, its architecture may surprise you. For example, do you know the stained-glass windows are made up of simple bottle bases sticked together by cement? Like everything else at Riaumont, the Chapel magnifies the fact that it is possible to make Beauty with little means but much love and will. It’s location, right in the middle of the village, witnesses the will of Riaumont to gather around Christ all those who come here.
The U shape courtyard formed by the chapel and the two wings of the monastery is often the seat of end of the day gatherings for the scouts units or group photography sessions at the end of ceremonies. Every year, Saint Michael is celebrated in great pomp and ceremony with the participation of former members of the “11th th Choc Regiment” . À superb statue of Saint Michael was recently inaugurated. It was sculpted especially for us and at no charge by Mr Emmanuel Sellier, who spent several months at Riaumont.
Already increased several times, it will be soon too small to accomodate all the parishioners on Sundays.
Three Masses (6.00, 7.00, 11.15 am) are celebrated daily according to the rite known as “Saint Pie V” in full agreement with Rome and the bishop of Arras. Sunday, the grand’mass is at 10 o’clock. All the offices are celebrated there at the usual hours.
Inside, a platform supports an organ which accompanies the songs by the choir and the faithful in attendance. À large fresco covers the entire wall on the right.
