First , who are they? The question is rather complex. In fact, any boy of Riaumont is spahis by definition. Parmis they, the volunteers can integrate the troop and thus become scouts. In the facts, Spahis name is now reserved to the boys who are not scouts.

The life of Spahis is rather close to that of the scout, seen outside. However, if they live in Patrol and carry a uniform, theyhave their rules and their traditions which they keep jealously. An essential difference, lies in the fact that there is not promise in Spahis. The boy does not engage definitively like does it the scout, the constraints morals are thus less.

However believe only one Spahis does what he wants. With the top of the Heads of Spahis Patrols, there is a Spahis Assistant. Thisone, a Brother of Riaumont generally, formed integral part of the Control of the troop, but it has the role of dealing with Spahis. It thus carries the uniform and makes all the activities with them fromthere, that those are common with those of Scouts or not. 

In summer, Spahis make the Camp with the troop, mainly the great play. Being given that they do not have, very often, thesame technical level that the scouts, their camp is mainly made up of great browsings under the direction of the Spahis Assistant. The discovery of new landscapes, of new ways of life is very formative forthe boy. Some had never seen the sea or the mountain differently than with television before coming in Riaumont. The camp of summer is alsofor them a good occasion to make provision of fresh air and greatspaces...
